Antarctica Circumnavigation
During the 2024–25 Antarctic season, NAS Corporation managed two AS350 B3 helicopters for an 8,000-mile circumnavigation of Antarctica in support of the SWIDA-RINGS project. This demanding operation required extensive technical preparation, long-range coordination, and the combined expertise of multiple specialist teams.
Prior to deployment to Antarctica, NAS worked closely with Heliswiss Ibérica, who were contracted by NAS to complete all avionics upgrades, major maintenance, component overhauls, and final preparation work required for safe helicopter operations in extreme polar conditions.
NAS also coordinated the movement of both aircraft from Europe to South America, followed by their transport into Antarctica using cargo aircraft — drawing on more than two decades of polar aviation experience. Once on the continent, NAS worked in conjunction with DAP Helicopters, specialist guides, and the
expedition project management team to support safe and efficient operations throughout the circumnavigation.
This project highlights NAS’s ability to deliver complex helicopter operations in some of the harshest environments on Earth, combining technical oversight, operational planning, and seamless collaboration with an experienced international team.
