Fire Vehicles via Air Freight to Southern Africa

NAS Corporation was commissioned to manage the air freight of two specialised fire tenders from the United Kingdom to Southern Africa. Each vehicle measured over six metres in length and weighed approximately four tons, destined for two separate cities. The project required a safe, compliant, and efficient solution for transporting oversized vehicles by air.

Challenge:

The shipment involved heavy, specialist vehicles classified with components requiring Dangerous Goods handling procedures. NAS needed to ensure full compliance with international air freight and export regulations while coordinating multiple stakeholders, including the shipper, airline, and regulatory authorities. Additionally, securing suitable aircraft space on a tight timeline presented logistical and operational complexity.

Execution:

NAS worked closely with the shipper to prepare all export documentation and ensure regulatory compliance. A licensed airline authorised to transport Dangerous Goods was selected, offering proven experience in handling specialised vehicles. The vehicles were collected from West Yorkshire, transported to London Heathrow, and then transferred via the airline’s trucking network to Amsterdam for uplift to Southern Africa. Throughout the process, NAS maintained oversight of all logistics to ensure precision and reliability.

Outcome:

The operation was completed smoothly and on schedule, with both fire tenders delivered in excellent condition. Following their arrival, the vehicles were deployed successfully and have since become valuable assets supporting emergency services across the region — directly contributing to saving lives and protecting property.
